Treatment

Alcoholism

Alcoholism - also known as alcohol use disorder (AUD), alcohol dependence, and alcohol addiction - is a chronic condition that describes a form of problem drinking that causes harm to a person’s health and relationships. To treat AUD, alcohol rehab in Louisiana is usually necessary. This typically involves three phases: medical detox to safely withdraw from alcohol, rehabilitation through evidence-based therapies, and support for long-term recovery maintenance.

Drug Addiction

While each drug rehab in Louisiana offers unique elements, recovery support often follows a similar pattern. Detox is followed by inpatient and/or outpatient care, then aftercare support is provided once the participant completes the initial program.

Dual Diagnosis

Specialized dual-diagnosis addiction treatment in Louisiana offers integrated treatment for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Programs include detox, outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, or dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and group therapy address the underlying causes of addiction, enhance coping strategies, and promote mental health and well-being. The programs discharge planning and alumni program will help to support long-term recovery by preventing relapse and providing on-going support post-treatment.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse

Mental health and substance abuse treatment in Louisiana is usually provided in a specialist dual-diagnosis treatment center. These inpatient and outpatient programs can effectively address both mental health and substance abuse concerns simultaneously, through therapeutic interventions, like individual therapy, group counseling, psychoeducation, and specialized programs like equine-assisted therapy or adventure therapy. By combining evidence-based practices and integrated approaches, you’ll achieve recovery, and leave treatment equipped with the tools to sustain your sobriety.

Opioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Level of Care

Outpatient

Clients enrolled in outpatient rehab typically need less intensive supervision and support than those in inpatient care. Clients may continue to work and attend school while participating in addiction counseling and recovery education during the evening, night, or weekend. Clients also often enter intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment immediately upon exiting residential care, which provides them with high-level step-down support as they reintegrate into their homes and communities.

Medically Assisted Detox

Detoxification is their most intensive form of treatment that begins upon admission. They can detox all substances (alcohol and drugs), and you will be monitored around the clock by our healthcare professionals to provide a safe and comfortable experience. Once you are physically healed, their licensed counselors utilize a variety of treatment methods including individual, group, and gender-specific therapy and education to begin mental and emotional healing.

Intensive Outpatient

Clients engaged in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) participate in multiple treatment sessions weekly. Typical treatment modalities include individual, group, and family counseling, addiction and recovery education, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and evidence-based holistic therapies. Most intensive outpatient rehabs require clients to engage in a minimum of nine and a maximum of 20 treatment hours per week. Many clients enter IOP after stepping down from intensive inpatient care, but some may enroll immediately after completing detox.

Inpatient

Once you are physically healed, the licensed counselors utilize a variety of treatment methods including individual, group, and gender-specific therapy and education to begin mental and emotional healing. As you approach the completion of the residential program, their treatment team will work with you to provide a continuing care plan, which may include Victory’s PHP or IOP program. They are also connected with sober living facilities around the country.

24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it’s important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand. Victory’s full medical staff includes nurses who are on-site 24-hours a day/7 days a week, medical doctors, psychiatrists, and psychologists.

12-Step

12 step programs enable participants to focus on their long-term sobriety through rigorous peer support and ongoing personal growth. They engage in regular, peer-directed 12 step meetings and receive one-on-one mentoring by a self-selected sponsor. Meetings are free, anonymous, and available multiple times a day, 365 days per year in most communities. Though 12 steps of recovery are rooted in spiritual principles, religious affiliation isn’t mandatory. Specialized programs are widely available, including youth and family meetings.

Aftercare Support

Their outpatient program involves the support system by holding a monthly family and sponsor night. This reinforces continuum of care while clients are learning to live a life of sobriety. Aftercare- clients may continue to come to outpatient group sessions once per week for up to a year after completion of the IOP program. All clients who have successfully completed the inpatient and/or outpatient program will be invited to participate in their Alumni functions. Their Alumni group serves as a network of support to individuals in the journey of recovery.

Sober Living Homes

Sober living homes in Louisiana is a drug and alcohol-free environment where residents can maintain or establish their sobriety. Also called a halfway house, this setting offers peer empowerment, support, accountability, reinforcement of recovery principles, and individual responsibility. It is a safe place where residents can solidify their recovery skills and prepare to return home or establish a new independent life.

Partial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Victory feels a strong support system is a very important part of recovery. “Family Week” is a feature of their inpatient program open to friends and family members of clients. Films, lectures, and group discussions are used to educate about addiction and how to support loved ones in recovery. Family groups will be scheduled by the treatment team as needed.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
