Transitional Living Communities (TLC) is a peer-run drug and alcohol rehab facility in Tucson, AZ. With 850 residential beds, TLC provides addiction treatment to adults through its wide range of services.
TLC offers patients a place for recovery and resources to those who complete their programs. Through their levels of care, TLC provides many services, including:
At TLC, patients are able to participate in their intensive outpatient program and gain access to flexible treatment options to accommodate work schedules. The facility provides various treatment services, including substance abuse assessments, relapse, transitional housing, prevention, and individual and daily group counseling.
The residential program with TLC has three phases to measure progress. The program starts with an initial two weeks, during which entry level patients can only attend 12 step meetings or seek employment. As they progress, patients can live in a 12 step home and leave the property alone with curfews. Voluntary compliance with curfews will help peers develop the discipline to maintain recovery. Patients will also have the ability to attend 12 step meetings, participate in relapse prevention classes, and attend 4 hours of in house peer counseling each week.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.
Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.
Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
Hypnotherapy (aka guided hypnosis) can be used as a therapeutic modality to treat substance use, especially in terms of quitting smoking cigarettes (nicotine). Clinical hypnotherapists help clients turn their attention inward, accessing unconscious or subconscious material, and then make suggestions that are healthier for the individual. The process can help clients make deep, positive, and lasting changes, including ceasing addictive habits.
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
