About this Facility

The 13 Step House is a private substance abuse recovery house in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This residential program helps clients overcome hurdles on the path to recovery through a structured, supportive program and secure living space. They exclusively serve men. The 13 Step House is a 6 to 18 month long program rooted in the principles of the 12 step program. During their stay, clients follow a strict therapeutic activity schedule that instills them with a sense of personal responsibility and inner strength. Services offered include:

In an inpatient program, clients live on site for treatment. During their stay, staff keep watch and offer support around the clock. A client’s basic needs are met during this time as well.

Clients typically receive individual and group counseling during a residential program. The community aspect is key, as clients support one another through the experience. By the end of the program, clients learn valuable life and coping skills that will support their sobriety in post treatment life.

The 12 step program was first used and popularized by AA and NA groups. It combines a traditional support group with a structured plan and curriculum clients must follow to progress through the 12 stages of recovery. The 12 steps teach clients to rely on the community, be accountable for their actions, and mentor others seeking recovery.

Treatment

Alcoholism

If a person has alcohol use disorder (AUD), also referred to as alcoholism, they experience a desire or physical need to consume alcohol. A person with AUD may try to stop drinking but they are unsuccessful without professional help. Alcohol rehab in Indiana can provide the resources necessary to achieve and maintain recovery. Rehab programs typically involve a combination of medical, behavioral, and social supports to overcome alcohol addiction.

Drug Addiction

For long-term recovery from drug addiction, drug rehab in Indiana is often key. This treatment gives individuals who are struggling with a substance use disorder the tools to manage their disorder and achieve long-term sobriety.

Opioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance Abuse

Indiana provides substance abuse treatment programs for individuals with substance use disorders. With a range of care levels, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization programs, you’ll be able to find the right treatment for you. Programs usually include a substance abuse evaluation, evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and group therapy address substance abuse and enhance coping strategies. By offering personalized treatment plans and a supportive environment, these programs strengthen your ability to maintain your recovery.

Level of Care

Inpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Sober Living Homes

The main rule in a sober living home in Indiana is that residents cannot use or bring alcohol or drugs into the home. Breaking this rule typically results in eviction. In addition to this rule, men’s and women’s sober living homes have other standards that residents must meet. These usually include maintaining a job, helping with meal preparation and house cleaning, and attending 12-step meetings.

12-Step

12 step programs foster participants’ long-term sobriety through personal growth rooted in spiritual principles, though religious affiliation is not mandatory. Most 12 step meetings are non-denominational but are based on the belief in a higher power. Participants learn to understand and address the causes of their addiction, accept responsibility for their choices, and relinquish control for that which cannot be changed. Regular group meetings and mentoring by a self-selected sponsor are required.

Clinical Services

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.
