Located on Sheppard Pratt’s beautiful Baltimore, Maryland campus, it is a premier, 22-bed, residential program, offering patients seeking an intensive and highly personalized assessment and treatment program, a chance to make meaningful progress toward recovery.
The Retreat at Sheppard Pratt offers an intermediate length of stay of three weeks to several months in a therapeutic milieu and provides nationally renowned, expert care for depression, treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, personality, and substance use disorders.
All residents at The Retreat receive the following core services:
Simultaneous comprehensive diagnostic and intensive individual therapy: we begin providing treatment from the beginning of your stay, maximizing the time you spend working towards recovery Diagnosis and consultation: In addition to a comprehensive mental health evaluation, all residents receive a diagnosis and psychiatric consultation during their stay
Treatment: Individualized treatment plans, including at least three hours with your treating doctor each week
Individual therapy: Three hours with your treating doctor each week in addition to six to eight hours of individual therapy each week with clinicians including a family therapist, art therapist, social worker, movement therapist, and wellness coordinator
Group therapy: 35 hours of group and family therapy each week, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, and activity therapy, such as rock climbing, yoga, art therapy, and equine-assisted therapy; all groups are led by either a doctor or a highly trained clinician.
Continuing care: Potential access to your doctor-led treatment team after you leave The Retreat, for those staying at our group home, Ruxton House or who remain in the Baltimore area
