Beacon House Association of San Pedro is an alcohol and drug rehab for adult men in Los Angeles, California. They provide residential services, intensive outpatient care, outpatient services, aftercare, and sober living.
The 90-day residential program provides lodging and requires that every person obtain a 12 Step sponsor while they work the 12 Step program. Additionally, participants learn about the basic concepts of addiction and recovery tools.
There are two outpatient clinics at Beacon House. The intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a non-residential program that allows clients to attend the 12 Step program and individual therapy and access the same resources as residential program participants, while living at home.
Outpatient treatment is less involved than the IOP. Essentially, this program is for those who can transition back into their daily lives while coping with mild withdrawal symptoms.
In addition to support groups. Beacon House provides workforce development programs. Participants can learn valuable skills that will assist them in finding work after they have completed their treatment program.
Beacon House of Association of San Pedro accepts most private insurance providers including Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Beacon Health Options, Cigna and Compsych. Additionally, they also accept FedMed, HMC HealthWorks, Humana, Meritain, MultiPlan, and PCHS. For those who are using out-of-network benefits, please contact your provider, as coverage varies.

Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.
Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.
