About this Facility

Talbert House is a social services agency that supports children, adults, and families to live healthy and productive lives. Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, they provide comprehensive mental health and addiction treatment, community care, and prevention services.

Addiction and mental health related services offered at Talbert House are offered in their program at the Grove Center, a 95-bed halfway house for men over the age of 18. Services include clinical assessments and comprehensive treatment planning for substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders, medication-assisted treatment, case management, counseling, community referrals, vocational services, family integration, life skills training, medication management, access to primary care services, and aftercare.

Mental health assessments are conducted by clinicians to determine if an individual demonstrates symptoms of substance use disorders and/or co-occurring mental health conditions, like depression. The assessment usually provides a diagnosis and condition severity, then moves into treatment planning. The Talbert House offers a variety of therapeutic modalities, including individual counseling, group therapy, psychoeducation, skill development, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, family counseling, and medication management.

ADAPT is a comprehensive residential and outpatient program for adults with substance use disorder who have drug-driven felony offenses. Treatment includes addiction treatment, counseling, behavior modification, drug testing, support with vocational training and education, family support, and other community support services.

The Halfway Homes at the Grove Center act as community corrections programs for offenders. The program includes assessment, treatment, and reintegration services while the participant lives in the residential setting. Like the ADAPT program, the Grove Center provides counseling, behavioral modification support, restitution, drug testing, education, employment support, community employment, and other supportive opportunities.

The treatment team at Talbert House monitors each person’s progress and determines whether they are ready to reintegrate into the community. When deemed ready, the team devises a reintegration and aftercare plan. Aftercare and reintegration plans typically include detailed relapse prevention activities, parole requirements, coping strategies, required attendance at support groups, and follow up appointments with their care team, program administrators, or drug court.

Talbot House accepts various payment means, including a sliding scale payment model. This means for those who qualify, treatment fees are based on income. Clients should be prepared to fill out an application and provide the requested financial information. You may also be asked to provide Medicare, Medicaid, or other insurance information.

Treatment

Alcoholism

An alcohol use disorder (AUD), also commonly called alcoholism, can range from mild to severe. It involves compulsive consumption of alcohol and maladaptive patterns of drinking that lead to negative physical, social, and relational consequences. Diverse treatment programs are available for people with AUD. Mutual-support groups, medications, and behavioral treatments are provided through alcohol rehab in Ohio. If co-occurring disorders are present, it is important to receive treatment for both disorders.

Drug Addiction

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Opioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance Abuse

Ohio’s substance abuse treatment programs can support individuals struggling with drug and alcohol use. Typically available on an outpatient or inpatient basis, these programs employ evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and holistic approaches to provide effective addiction treatment. This comprehensive approach ensures long-term sobriety, improved mental health, and coping skills to overcome risk of relapse.

Level of Care

Sober Living Homes

A sober living home in Ohio is often recommended for those completing a drug rehab program. When you leave the structured setting of rehab, returning home can trigger relapse due to the abrupt change in environment. Men’s and women’s sober living homes act as transitional spaces to continue developing tools for recovery before fully re-entering society. It gives you time to adjust to the demands of life, in a setting that is free from substances.

Clinical Services

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
