PROGRAM MISSION AND PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

Sober Stages Inc. Outpatient Program (SSIOP) is a nonresidential alcohol and/or drug addiction treatment service. Sober Stages Inc. Outpatient Program (SSIOP) services are designed to provide an alcohol and drug free environment with structure and supervision to further a participant’s ability to improve his/her level of functioning.

The mission at SSIOP is to help the addict achieve personal growth and development so that a stage of change in the addiction cycle can be achieved and maintained. Between family, work, and school, finding the time needed to treat a substance abuse issue isn’t always easy. Life’s demands can cause roadblocks to recovery, which is why we at Sober Stages Inc. Outpatient Program (SSIOP) there are flexible program schedule for substance abuse treatment that allows clients to get the treatment they need. The SSIOP philosophy is based around the stages of change model of recovery. Sober Stages Inc. Outpatient Program (SSIOP) believes that if someone has the willingness to work a program of recovery, then a stage of change activation can continue to occur to the point of long term sobriety. SSIOP offers individualized treatment plans based on our client’s needs, with day and evening outpatient treatment options available. Sober Stages Inc. Outpatient Program (SSIOP) has a unique approach to addiction, located in a very clean, safe and easily accessible area.

Addiction is a largely misunderstood phenomenon, widely and wrongly thought of as a “chronic brain disease.” As is evidenced by the most recent outcomes literature, this misunderstanding has led the still quite young field of addiction treatment to produce an unfortunate rate of success. Leaders and pioneers in the field are redefining addiction, calling for the rethinking of the approach to treatment. SSIOP is committed to being on the leading edge of addiction treatment and believe in a comprehensive view of addiction.

According to Lance Dodes, MD, a respected author and leader in the field: “Addiction is a behavior intended to reverse a profound, intolerable sense of helplessness. Addictions are all substitute actions. They take the place of a more direct response to (these) feelings of helplessness in a particular situation.” SSIOP aims through a better understanding of addiction and of the clients, to activate a stage of change, where the source of this helplessness is uncovered and the individual becomes empowered. It is by this process that a lasting and sustainable recovery is achieved.
