About this Facility

The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center- Fresno is for individuals who are willing to participate in a residential work therapy program that provides spiritual, social, and emotional assistance to better their lives. The Fresno, California program is 180 days in length.

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center- Fresno location provides residential, outpatient, and 12 Step focused recovery.

The Salvation Army- Adult Rehab is a 180 day program at no cost for those who meet eligibility requirements. This program requests a six month commitment to assist participants in creating new, healthy patterns in their lives. To qualify, detoxification must have already taken place. No sex offenders will be allowed to participate and those with serious mental health diagnoses are not suitable for this program. The program requires each participant to work eight hours a day and to participate in groups and classes.

The intensive outpatient program offered by The Salvation Army is a step down from residential treatment and it is most suitable for those looking to continue their treatment with less supervision. The program’s approach is a 12 Step, abstinent model that requires a commitment to living a life of recovery. Given this program allows treatment to happen with schedule flexibility, work responsibilities, family responsibilities, and personal responsibilities can still take place around treatment.

The 12 Step program is a common recovery model based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a plan for recovery based in a Higher Power. Middle steps include self-examination and making amends to those who’ve been hurt by the addiction. The later steps include continuing to take personal inventory while living a life of recovery and supporting others in doing the same. Additional 12 Step groups include Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) Gamblers Anonymous (GA), to name a few.

Treatment

Alcoholism

Alcoholism, or alcohol use disorder (AUD), is defined by alcohol dependence. This is a state the body reaches when it experiences withdrawal symptoms in the absence of alcohol. A person who has AUD craves alcohol and continues to drink despite adverse consequences. Because withdrawing from alcohol can pose health risks, individuals with AUD should seek professional alcohol rehab in California to overcome their alcohol addiction. This process typically involves medical detox, rehabilitation, and maintenance.

Drug Addiction

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Substance Abuse

In California, substance abuse treatment programs can help individuals with any type of substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions. These rehab programs typically encompass various levels of care, including medically assisted detox, intensive outpatient, outpatient, residential rehab, and partial hospitalization. You can expect clinicians to utilize evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness to help you achieve and sustain your recovery. The rehab’s clinical team can provide a comprehensive assessment to determine the appropriate level of care and medical support you may need.

Level of Care

12-Step

Participants engaged in 12 step programs receive intensive peer coaching (sponsorship) and community support. Spiritual development as a means of achieving psychological and emotional healing and growth is the cornerstone of 12 step recovery, but religious affiliations are not required. Meetings are free, anonymous, and open to the public, though specialized formats are available, including groups for seniors, teens, and family members. Evening, night, and day meetings are conducted year-round in most communities.

Clinical Services

Family Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
