Perinatal Substance Abuse Program (PSAP) is a division of the County of Santa Clara Behavioral Health Services Department. They provide comprehensive outpatient drug rehab services to pregnant and parenting women who have alcohol or drug addiction, who have a substance-exposed infant, or who are attempting to regain child custody.
The Perinatal Substance Abuse Program’s substance abuse outpatient treatment requires a referral. Intakes are also accepted on a walk-in basis. Once clients complete an intake, they are assigned a counselor. They will receive an appointment with their counselor for an assessment and appointments for individual and/or group counseling. Any necessary referrals for case management services, such as housing or employment assistance, psychiatric care, or primary medical care, will be accessed by the intake coordinator or the client’s counselor.
Perinatal Substance Abuse Program (PSAP) accepts government funding. Clients who need further mental health or addiction services will receive referrals. Many major insurers, such as Aetna, Cigna, Humana, United Healthcare, or others, will cover some or all the costs of drug recovery services if they are determined to be medically necessary. To verify coverage, you would need to contact your insurance provider, as out-of-network benefits may vary.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
