About this Facility

Prestera Center’s Mattie V. Lee Home is located in Charleston, West Virginia. It is a behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment center that specializes in treating those with dual diagnosis. Their services are available regardless of an individual’s ability to pay.

Prestera Center – Mattie V. Lee Home’s addictions treatment services offers medically monitored detoxification, short and long term residential programs, outpatient services, medication assisted treatment, and transitional living programs.

Detoxification services are available through the residential crisis stabilization programs at the Mattie V. Lee Home. Physicians and nurses manage withdrawal symptoms through the use of medications, while monitoring vital signs for safety. Post detox, it is suggested to continue into a residential treatment program.

Prestera’s residential programs often last for three to six months. There is 24-hour medical care during the entire stay. Services provided include family therapy, individual therapy, group therapy, psychiatric evaluation and psychiatric treatment and case management.

Outpatient services at the Mattie V. Lee Home are provided in an office setting weekly, bi-monthly or on a monthly basis, depending on the phase of recovery. Intensive outpatient services for individuals with co-occurring mental health and addiction problems are also available.

Prestera Center provides FDA-approved medications to help ease the withdrawal of opioid drugs. MAT participants must also participate in professional treatment services, regular drug tests, and peer support groups. The medication can be given for 6 to 12 months, and under some circumstances they can be prescribed for longer.

Transitional living apartments applications are available for men and women who are not actively using. The efficiency apartments Pastera Center offers are for one person only and require drug testing, along with weekly apartment inspections. Rent is based on income.

Prestera Center – Mattie V. Lee Home specializes in treating those with dual diagnosis, which is often referred to as having co-occurring disorders. By treating the addiction and the mental health condition simultaneously, there is a better chance for long-term recovery to take place.

Treatment

Alcoholism

When a person struggles with alcoholism, they have become dependent on alcohol and require treatment to overcome the addiction. Alcohol rehab in West Virginia teaches you new coping skills and helps you process emotional issues related to drinking. Medications may also be provided to help control the alcohol addiction and maintain sobriety.

Drug Addiction

Drug addiction causes psychological and physical damage through repeated and uncontrollable use of substances. Drug rehab in West Virginia focuses on providing a full continuum of care, from detox to aftercare, and treatment can take place in outpatient or inpatient settings, based on your needs.

Dual Diagnosis

In West Virginia, dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs provide specialized care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. These programs offer a full continuum of care, including detox, outpatient, inpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Treatment includes individual and group therapy, medication management, experiential therapy, skills training, and relational counseling.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse

If you're in West Virginia and in need of help for both mental health and substance abuse, dual-diagnosis rehabs offer comprehensive care designed to meet your specific needs. These rehab programs combine evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy to reframe unhelpful patterns, dialectical behavior therapy to improve emotional regulation, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing to overcome trauma. This trauma-informed approach addresses both disorders and promotes mental health and well-being.

Opioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Level of Care

Inpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Sober Living Homes

The primary rule in a sober living home in West Virginia is that residents stay sober. In addition to this rule, residents are encouraged to find work or attend school and must contribute to household chores and abide by a curfew. These rules encourage responsible behavior and help residents maintain a structured, sober lifestyle. The halfway house setting helps people in recovery avoid isolation, practice responsibility, and develop supportive relationships.

Clinical Services

Couples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
