Prestera Center at Pinecrest, located in Huntington, West Virginia, is a behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment center that supports men and women seeking recovery. Despite ability to pay for drug rehab services, Prestera offers a wide continuum of care that supports clients from the beginning of treatment to the end.
Prestera Center at Pinecrest offers medically monitored detoxification, short and long term residential programs, outpatient services, and medication assisted treatment.
Detox Detoxification services are available through the residential crisis stabilization programs at Prestera. Physicians and nurses manage withdrawal symptoms through the use of medications, while monitoring vital signs for safety. Post detox, it is suggested to continue into a residential treatment program.
Residential Prestera’s residential programs often lasts for three to six months. There is 24-hour care during the entire stay. Services provided include family therapy, individual therapy, group therapy, psychiatric evaluation and psychiatric treatment and case management.
Outpatient Outpatient services at Pastera are provided in an office setting weekly, bi-monthly or on a monthly basis, depending on the phase of recovery. Intensive outpatient services for individuals with co-occurring mental health and addiction problems are also available.
Medication Assisted Treatment Prestera Center provides FDA approved medications to help ease the withdrawal of opioid drugs. The requirement to receive these drugs is to also participate in professional treatment services, regular drug tests and peer support. The medication can be given for 6 to 12 months, and under some circumstances they can be prescribed for longer than a year. In the case that medication assisted treatment is not available at this time at this particular location, Prestera Center at Pinecrest will refer to one of their other locations to ensure this need is met.
Dual Diagnosis Prestera specializes in treating those with dual diagnosis, which is often referred to as having co-occurring disorders. By treating the addiction and the mental health condition simultaneously, there is a better chance for long-term recovery to take place.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation. Families may or may not be involved in treatment services, depending on the preferences of the person served.
Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
