Prairie St. John’s offers specialized services for children and adolescents. These programs are tailored to address age-specific mental health and substance abuse issues, ensuring that the youth receive appropriate care and support.

Opioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Level of Care

Outpatient

Outpatient rehabs offer clients the freedom to remain in their home and community while receiving treatment. Many facilities also provide transitional support for clients who are stepping down from intensive inpatient care. The primary treatment modalities for most outpatient programs include addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT) for alcohol and/or opioid dependency. Integrative facilities also provide holistic therapies, such as meditation, acupuncture, and massage.

Medically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Intensive Outpatient

Clients receiving treatment in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) often require higher-level support than those in standard outpatient (OP) programs. They are usually in early recovery or are experiencing crisis situations that increase their relapse risk. Intensive outpatient treatment generally involves nine to 20 hours of treatment weekly and may include a combination of addiction counseling, recovery education, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and holistic therapies, such as meditation, acupuncture, and massage.

Inpatient

The acute inpatient program treats adults in an intensive therapeutic structure, providing psychiatric stabilization and 24-hour nursing care for patients experiencing critical symptoms. It offers a comprehensive treatment approach to stabilizing acute psychiatric and addictive disease problems in adults of all ages. The ultimate goal of the inpatient treatment is to stabilize the immediate crisis and to enable the patient to return to the community with skills to promote personal and emotional development, relationship building and independence. Residential Substance Use Treatment provides a safe, structured living environment for patients who need continued care as they begin to break the cycle of substance abuse and take responsibility for their new life of recovery. Residential Treatment allows time to focus on various behavioral and emotional issues that need to be resolved and guides the application of recovery skills, which include emotional functioning, family dynamics, personal responsibility, work/school reintegration and relapse prevention.

24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

12-Step

Recovery models based on 12 step programming combine intensive peer support with an emphasis on personal growth. Participants are expected to select a peer sponsor to mentor them through the recovery journey. 12 step recovery strategies are rooted in spiritual principles to promote self-compassion, acceptance, and accountability. Regular attendance at group meetings, which are free, anonymous, and open to the public, is expected. Specialized formats, including programs for seniors, youth, and families, are available in most communities.

Aftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn’t spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. In order to reduce the need for future hospitalization, discharge planning is seen as a priority. Staff works towards identifying and coordinating community resource support and aftercare services to assist each patient in meeting their goals.

Clinical Services

Couples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

They teach the positive reinforcement approach so parents may continue these supportive and effective methods at home.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.
