About this Facility

Plymouth House is a drug and alcohol addiction recovery center in Plymouth, New Hampshire. The Plymouth House is a retreat that serves adult clients with a process rooted in health in the 12 step program utilized by Alcoholics Anonymous. They are a private facility with residential amenities. Plymouth House sits on 60 private acres near the White Mountains. They use holistic treatments in addition to the 12 step program.

During inpatient treatment, clients live on campus, where staff can closely monitor them. The residence is a community living space where clients form support networks and work together toward recovery. Stays at Plymouth House are typically two to four weeks long but can vary based on need.

Clients follow a daily schedule that includes recreational and recovery activities. These include 12 step groups, goal setting, self reflection, hiking, meditation, yoga, and work from the 12 step Big Book. Some activities may consist of work with outside groups.

By the end of inpatient treatment, clients will have developed new life and coping skills to support their continued recovery. They will also be ingrained in the 12 steps program and encouraged to continue attending meetings to maintain support following treatment.

PHP is the second phase of treatment at Plymouth House. During PHP, clients prepare for continuing recovery once they return to life outside of treatment. For six days a week, clients participate in the same groups and activities they did during inpatient care but with a changed focus.

Aftercare planning ensures clients have a plan for when they leave treatment. Clients work with a personal care team to develop their plans as they approach the end of PHP. Plymouth House’s Extended Care program allows graduates to move into a sober living house and continue participating in the facility’s programming until they feel confident enough to return to fully independent living.

Treatment

Alcoholism

Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a condition characterized by drinking that causes distress or harm. Also called alcoholism, this alcohol addiction can be classified as mild, moderate, or severe. Various treatments for alcoholism can be classified as social, psychological, and physiological. Options include inpatient or outpatient alcohol rehab in New Hampshire, 12-step groups, and faith-based recovery programs.

Drug Addiction

Treatment provided at drug rehab in New Hampshire prepares individuals to handle life stressors without using substances. Participants get the tools and support they need to maintain lifelong recovery.

Substance Abuse

In New Hampshire, individuals can find comprehensive rehab programs that provide substance abuse treatment on an inpatient or outpatient basis. These programs typically utilize evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and experiential therapies, together with family counseling, individual, and group meetings. These critical interventions provide an effective treatment program that will help you achieve sobriety and maintain it in the long-term.

Level of Care

Inpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

12-Step

12 step programs are often considered the gold standard in addiction treatment. They are based on personal growth and intensive peer support. Participants are expected to regularly attend 12 step meetings, which are free, anonymous, and open to the public. They are also required to select a peer sponsor to mentor them as they work through the steps of recovery, which are based on non-denominational spiritual principles designed to foster understanding, forgiveness, accountability, and acceptance.

Aftercare Support

The Plymouth House has thousands of alumni from coast to coast who have successfully recovered from their addictions. These alumni are ready, willing and anxious to assist others in their recovery. They give alumni numerous opportunities to return to The Plymouth House to share their experience, strength and hope with current guests and to renew their commitment to their own recovery and spiritual way of life. The Plymouth House Alumni Retreat & Renewal Program offers alumni a 3-7 night stay at the Plymouth House that will give attendees the opportunity to be immersed into the day-to-day life of the Plymouth House; from morning reflections to big book sessions, meals and evening wrap-up, sober-alumni will have the opportunity to experience the Plymouth House in the new light of recovery while having an opportunity to share their own experience, strength and hope with our current guests.

Sober Living Homes

This communal living environment, also called a halfway house, provides a supportive community where people in recovery can start a new life free from substances. Typical house rules include individual room maintenance, shared meal times, curfews, and 12-step meeting attendance.

Clinical Services

Experiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.
