Pioneer Group is a substance abuse support group program in Fort Smith, Arkansas, just east of the Arkansas River. Pioneer Group follows the Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) peer-led group model. They serve adult clients.
In AA groups like Pioneer Group, clients participate in regular meetings where they share their experiences and provide support for one another. It’s important to note that this isn’t a medical program, and meetings are not overseen by medical professionals.
The 12-Step model is a structured system for peer-led support group meetings. These meetings give clients a chance to share their stories and their struggles and to support one another in a private, welcoming atmosphere. Such groups usually don’t have membership dues but may collect money if they need to pay for the meeting space.
The 12 Steps are a structured guideline designed to take clients through specific phases of recovery. This starts with admitting that they are an addict and that they need help from a self designated higher power, which can be the group itself. Over the course of the remaining steps, clients learn to accept responsibility for their past actions, make amends with those most hurt by their addiction, and become mentors to others seeking help from the group.
Pioneer Group doesn’t require insurance, but clients considering other rehabilitation programs should confirm coverage with their insurance provider first, as in network and out of network benefits can vary.

Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.
