Crescend Health (formerly Phoenix of Santa Barbara) is a private substance abuse and mental health treatment facility in Santa Barbara, California. They provide comprehensive inpatient treatment, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), outpatient treatment, and dual diagnosis services for adults. Staff encourage clients to participate in every stage of their treatment, creating a highly personalized experience.
Crescend Health maintains two residences for its inpatient program. These small homes create a warm atmosphere that fosters community and personal reflection. Staff are available to help clients around the clock. Services may include individual therapy, group therapy, psychiatry, recreational activities, life and coping skill development, and relapse prevention.
The IOP is for clients who want to receive intensive treatment outside of a residential program. The IOP emphasizes one-on-one treatment for clients as well as their families. It also includes specialized groups such as mindfulness and meditation, healthy living, and gender specific groups.
The drug and alcohol addiction outpatient program teaches clients harm reduction techniques and skills in individual and group therapy settings.
Specialized dual diagnosis treatment delivers effective care to clients with both addiction and adjacent mental health concerns. This care can lower the risk of relapse in such patients.
Crescend Health is a private-pay facility, but many other rehab programs accept private insurance such as Magellan, United Healthcare, Ambetter, Bright Health, and Anthem. Clients should always confirm coverage before enrolling in a rehabilitation program, as out of network benefits may vary.

Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.
Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
