About this Facility

Oxford House – Drug and Alcohol Abuse is a drug and alcohol treatment center for adults, located in Atlanta, Georgia. They also provide valuable community resources, mental health services, case management, and community referrals.

Oxford House facilities have been in operation since 1975. Each home has 12 residents, with three having completed the treatment program. Participants have access to counseling, peer support, recovery meetings, and a sober living environment.

The peer support program is offered by individuals with lived experience of addiction and recovery and those who have completed an Oxford House Program. Certified by the state, peers can support individuals to make a recovery plan, access services, and assist them in achieving their goals.

Sober living housing provides a structured program for adults in early recovery. The program is most suited to those who have just completed an addiction treatment program but are not yet ready to return to their home and community. Residents are required to attend regular 12-step meetings, secure employment, take part in light housekeeping, comply with house rules, and assist in the running of the home. In return, they receive education, fellowship, a supportive living environment, career development and vocational training. Residents may have to take random drug tests.

Most sober living homes either host 12-step programs like Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous or provide transportation to a meeting close by. These peer-based groups are attended by other people in recovery and those seeking sobriety. AA and NA provide a 12-step program of recovery, support meetings, and an opportunity to volunteer.

Treatment

Alcoholism

Alcoholism is a pattern of alcohol use that involves continued drinking even when it causes problems. Alcoholism is also characterized by a physical dependence on alcohol, which causes the body to experience withdrawal symptoms when alcohol is not present. Due to this physical dependence, medically-supervised detox is often necessary to safely recover from alcoholism. Alcohol rehab in Georgia offers a three-step process of detox, rehab, and maintenance to help individuals recover from alcohol addiction.

Drug Addiction

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Opioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance Abuse

Addiction treatment programs in Georgia help individuals to address substance abuse problems. With various programs available, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization programs, you can find the right level of care for your specific needs. You can generally expect drug and alcohol rehab to incorporate evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), skills training, recovery meetings, and mindfulness-based therapy. When combined, these interventions can successfully help you overcome addiction and continue to enjoy long-term mental health.

Clinical Services

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
