Optimum Performance Institute - OPI, located in Los Angeles, California, offers long-term and short-term residential partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) and intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) for young adults ages 17 to 28 who are struggling with mental health and/or addiction. Services include dual-diagnosis treatment, medication management, and educational support.

The intensive program meets full-time Monday through Friday. Participants live in program housing during off hours. Services include individual and group therapy, skill-building, medication management, education and career support, substance use treatment, and extracurricular activities. They can also refer participants to more intensive alcohol or drug rehab treatment if appropriate.

Participants in the standard program live in program housing and receive similar services to the intensive program. Over time, residents are given more independence and less supervision so they can learn life skills, pursue their education, and/or work.

The short-term residential program is intended to stabilize participants and help them reintegrate into daily life. Services are similar to those of the intensive program, with additional classes to improve emotional, social, and vocational skills.

Optimum Performance Institute is not in-network with any insurance plans, but participants may be able to use out-of-network benefits to get reimbursed for some services. The program may refer participants to other services that do accept private insurance plans like Aetna, Humana, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Beacon, and Magellan Health. Mental Health and Substance Abuse

California drug and alcohol rehabs also provide dual-diagnosis treatment for individuals seeking help for both mental health and substance abuse. These programs are usually offered on an inpatient or outpatient basis. You can usually expect a mental health assessment and personalized treatment plan, evidence-based therapies, like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), experiential therapies like equine therapy, skills groups, and counseling to simultaneously address both mental health and substance abuse and drastically increase your chances of long-term sobriety.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.
