About this Facility

New Horizons Counseling Service is a substance abuse treatment program in Phoenix, Arizona, southwest of Solano Park. They provide various support, education, and treatment services to clients seeking help and those under court order.

In addition to their outpatient substance abuse programs, they provide sex offender treatment, domestic violence survivors support, anger management treatment, court-ordered domestic violence treatment, parenting skills and support groups, and DUI services. By teaching healthy life and coping skills, they seek to reduce recidivism and increase overall quality of life. Services are offered through an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and standard outpatient program.

IOP is the highest level of outpatient care and is designed for clients with more severe symptoms that don’t warrant close supervision. IOP meets three times per week for two-hour sessions, for 40 weeks. Clients in IOP receive counseling that utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Counseling may occur in individual, group, and family settings.

The outpatient program is a less intensive form of outpatient care, meeting twice per week for 30 sessions. It uses the same form of counseling as IOP. Clients who complete IOP may transition into the outpatient program, but it is also open to those with less severe symptoms.

New Horizons Counseling Services accepts most major insurance, including Cigna, United Behavioral Health, Medicare, Aetna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. Because in network and out of network benefits can vary, clients should confirm coverage with their insurance provider before enrolling.

Treatment

Alcoholism

Alcohol use disorder (AUD), also referred to as alcoholism and alcohol addiction, is a chronic condition that involves craving alcohol and an inability to control drinking. A person with AUD must drink greater and greater amounts of alcohol to achieve the same effects and experiences withdrawal symptoms if they stop drinking alcohol. Several evidence-based methods are available to treat AUD through alcohol rehab in Arizona. This treatment can occur on an outpatient or inpatient basis.

Drug Addiction

Drug rehab in Arizona is the process of treating individuals who are dependent on a particular addictive drug. Because addiction is complex, this treatment typically includes a variety of interventions that address the many physical and emotional issues involved.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse

Dual-diagnosis rehabs in Arizona typically provide comprehensive treatment for both mental health and substance abuse. These types of specialized facilities address both issues at the same time, through substance abuse evaluations and personalized treatment plans, evidence-based therapies like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), medication management, and skill development. By focusing on both aspects of your mental health and treating your addiction, you’ll gain vital skills to cope with cravings, manage stress, and prevent relapse.

Opioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Level of Care

Outpatient

Many clients who enroll in an outpatient rehab program are exiting intensive inpatient care and no longer require such high-level clinical supervision. Outpatient programs typically follow a step-down structure, with treatment frequency and intensity decreasing as clients progress in their recovery journey. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) levels of care are the most time-intensive and are designed primarily for clients who have just left inpatient treatment or who are at an elevated risk of relapse.

Medically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Clinical Services

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
