Treatment

Alcoholism

Alcoholism - also known as alcohol use disorder (AUD), alcohol dependence, and alcohol addiction - is a chronic condition that describes a form of problem drinking that causes harm to a person’s health and relationships. To treat AUD, alcohol rehab in Louisiana is usually necessary. This typically involves three phases: medical detox to safely withdraw from alcohol, rehabilitation through evidence-based therapies, and support for long-term recovery maintenance.

Drug Addiction

While each drug rehab in Louisiana offers unique elements, recovery support often follows a similar pattern. Detox is followed by inpatient and/or outpatient care, then aftercare support is provided once the participant completes the initial program.

Dual Diagnosis

Specialized dual-diagnosis addiction treatment in Louisiana offers integrated treatment for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Programs include detox, outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, or dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and group therapy address the underlying causes of addiction, enhance coping strategies, and promote mental health and well-being. The programs discharge planning and alumni program will help to support long-term recovery by preventing relapse and providing on-going support post-treatment.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse

Mental health and substance abuse treatment in Louisiana is usually provided in a specialist dual-diagnosis treatment center. These inpatient and outpatient programs can effectively address both mental health and substance abuse concerns simultaneously, through therapeutic interventions, like individual therapy, group counseling, psychoeducation, and specialized programs like equine-assisted therapy or adventure therapy. By combining evidence-based practices and integrated approaches, you’ll achieve recovery, and leave treatment equipped with the tools to sustain your sobriety.

Opioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Level of Care

Intensive Outpatient

Clients engaged in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) participate in multiple treatment sessions weekly. Typical treatment modalities include individual, group, and family counseling, addiction and recovery education, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and evidence-based holistic therapies. Most intensive outpatient rehabs require clients to engage in a minimum of nine and a maximum of 20 treatment hours per week. Many clients enter IOP after stepping down from intensive inpatient care, but some may enroll immediately after completing detox.

Medically Assisted Detox

At New Day, their goal is to manage the physical changes that occur in the brain and body after repeated drug use, while providing the highest degree of comfort and support. Their detoxification program uses typical oral medications that aid in mitigating the uncomfortable physiological symptoms of withdrawal. This detoxification program is ideal for those who have abused a variety of substances including alcohol, intravenous drugs, opiates, stimulants, as well as prescription drugs. Most of their clients complete the detox program within 3 to 7 days of admission. However, they focus not on the length of the detox process, but rather on completing the program in a way that best prepares their clients for successful long-term recovery.

Outpatient

Clients enrolled in outpatient rehab typically need less intensive supervision and support than those in inpatient care. Clients may continue to work and attend school while participating in addiction counseling and recovery education during the evening, night, or weekend. Clients also often enter intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment immediately upon exiting residential care, which provides them with high-level step-down support as they reintegrate into their homes and communities.

Inpatient

At New Day Recovery, they are positioned to help patients and families by beginning the rehabilitation process. When you come to New Day, you will experience a friendly staff that will work together to create a specialized and individualized plan of care for you or your loved one. From community meetings to small group therapy to one-on-one sessions, clients will work with their professional staff to learn about the addictions that they struggle with and how to cope with them going forward on a daily basis. Using evidenced-based practices, their staff, consisting of addiction-certified physicians, nurses, and counselors of various concentrations, will provide you with the tools that you will need to live a life in successful recovery. Their 16-bed facility, located in West Monroe, LA, provides clients with a clean and positive environment to get the best treatment possible. They believe in holistic treatment where clients receive not only cognitive therapy, but also physical and social interventions, as well. At New Day, their clients enjoy activities available on their campus from basketball to free weights to weekly massages. Their spacious campus provides plenty of room to spread out, and everyone enjoys the occasional trip to the park. They also offer involvement through off-site meetings with local AA/NA and Celebrate Recovery chapters.

12-Step

12 step programs enable participants to focus on their long-term sobriety through rigorous peer support and ongoing personal growth. They engage in regular, peer-directed 12 step meetings and receive one-on-one mentoring by a self-selected sponsor. Meetings are free, anonymous, and available multiple times a day, 365 days per year in most communities. Though 12 steps of recovery are rooted in spiritual principles, religious affiliation isn’t mandatory. Specialized programs are widely available, including youth and family meetings.

Aftercare Support

At New Day, they work closely with Celebrate Recovery, a nationally recognized and respected Christian program, to ensure that pro-recovery, Christ-centered, fellowship is maintained. Celebrate Recovery is a Biblical program that was designed to help those struggling with hurts, habits and hang-ups by showing them the loving power of Jesus Christ through a recovery process. This is an extension of their Christian counseling and programming within the facility. Their continued walk with Christ ensures that they do not have to face recovery alone. By utilizing Celebrate Recovery’s basis of teaching the words of Jesus, positive environments and enhanced outcomes are often found. They always have a friend in Jesus and this means they always have a friend when in recovery.

Clinical Services

Family Therapy

Often accompanying those struggling with addiction, it is the family that is also affected with problems arising from the chaotic and damaging lifestyle that is brought on by a loved one’s substance abuse. Therefore, when the client receives treatment, the family can benefit and play an integral part in the recovery process. By being involved in their loved one’s care, the family is able to rebuild healthy relationships and establish a necessary understanding of addiction and its damaging impact. Family members can also learn valuable coping skills which can be significant in the long-term success of their loved one’s recovery from addiction. Their program at New Day includes a number of therapeutic approaches that can help make your family healthy again, including individualized family therapy sessions and educational support for families in a group setting. Besides the obvious benefits that come from therapy, family involvement helps in a number of other ways. At New Day, they have fully licensed family therapists on staff, in addition to other forms of family group programming which include couples counseling, family counselling, and parent-child therapy. Including the family in recovery improves the prognosis of most individuals and our licensed family therapists provide individuals with the very best opportunity for maximizing this aspect of their recovery process.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
