Clients may enroll in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) immediately following detox or after completing inpatient treatment. IOP programs involve a step-down approach in which treatment frequency and intensity gradually decrease until the client is stable enough to enter standard outpatient (OP) care. Most intensive outpatient programs offer a minimum of nine and a maximum of 20 treatment hours.
