Limen Recovery is a substance use disorder and mental health counseling service located in Wilmington, Delaware.
Limen Recovery provides outpatient counseling, family counseling, and sober living arrangements to men and women.
The Outpatient Program at Limen Recovery is an affordable counseling service for individuals and their families who are impacted by addiction and mental health disorders. Various clinical approaches are used, along with the 12 Steps. In some cases, a treatment plan and program is put into place based on the goals and needs of the individual. Counseling is offered five days a week with daytime hours and some evening hours available.
The counselors at Limen Recovery encourage the healing of strained relationships. They aim to help individuals and families uncover the underlying cause of unhealthy dynamics so it can be repaired.
Limen Recovery provides sober living for chemically dependent men and women who need a safe and structured home to continue their recovery process. The sober living arrangements are designed to help foster personal responsibility and prepare those who stay to return to society as productive members. Recovery goals are created and based on each person’s individual strengths, weaknesses, and needs. The program includes a 12 Step recovery model with holistic treatments. Learning tools to maintain abstinence, manage money, cope with stress and anger, develop and implement a self care plan, develop a sober support network, obtain employment supportive of recovery, maintain a savings account with a positive balance at the time of discharge, and secure safe housing are also incorporated into the sober living stay.
The 12 Step program is a common recovery model based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a plan for recovery based in a Higher Power. Middle steps include self examination and making amends to those who’ve been hurt by the addiction. The later steps include continuing to take personal inventory while living a life of recovery and supporting others in doing the same. Additional 12 Step groups include Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) Gamblers Anonymous (GA), to name a few.

There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.
Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
