About this Facility

Helen Ross McNabb Center is an adult addiction treatment center in Maryville, Tennessee. They provide comprehensive addiction care, psychiatric services, dual diagnosis, family education, and court ordered detox and treatment.

Addiction and mental health related services offered at Helen Ross McNabb Center are for adults, seniors (aged over 65), and young adults (aged 18 to 21). Services include clinical assessments, comprehensive treatment planning, integrated co-occurring disorder programs, outpatient treatment programs, inpatient detox treatment, counseling, court mandated programs, medication assisted treatment, community referrals, medication management, and aftercare.

Assessments help to determine whether a person demonstrates features of substance use disorders and/or co-occurring mental health conditions. Clinicians will determine the acuity of their condition and the level of intervention required, then seek to stabilize the patient. Therapeutic modalities at Helen Ross McNabb Center include individual counseling, group therapy, 12 step facilitation, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and family counseling.

A person with acute substance use disorder may have a physical dependence on a substance if they have been using it regularly. The Helen Ross McNabb Center supports patients to comfortably detoxify and remove substances from their bodies while prioritizing safety and comfort. Patients are medically monitored and may receive medication to support the process.

The outpatient clinic is for individuals with substance use disorder and/or co-occurring conditions who do not require detox or stabilization but do need addiction treatment. The Helen Ross McNabb Center’s outpatient program includes a thorough clinical assessment, individual and group treatment counseling, medication management, integrated dual diagnosis treatment, trauma therapy, and attending educational groups to enhance coping skills and stress reduction. Sessions are held several days per week, depending upon circumstances.

The inpatient drug and alcohol addiction treatment program at Helen Ross McNabb Center relies on evidence based practices to treat addiction and co-occurring conditions. That involves a mental health assessment, a comprehensive treatment plan, relapse prevention planning, medication management, individual and group therapy, medication management, 12-step groups, medical services, education groups, family therapy, and follow up care.

The MAT program includes counseling, support groups, and medication management in an outpatient setting. This program is appropriate for alcohol and substance use disorders and is available to men, women, pregnant and postpartum people. As clients progress and stabilize, in-person office appointments tend to become less frequent.

The treatment team at Helen Ross McNabb Center also receives court ordered detoxification and addiction treatment referred patients. This involves participants completing an addiction treatment program, reporting progress to the court, and usually a charge diversion for completing treatment. A participant may then be required to attend an outpatient program, or follow up regularly with recovery peers and their treatment team to maintain their recovery.

Helen Ross McNabb Center accepts Medicare, Medicaid, SAMHSA block grants, state funding, private insurance plans, and self pay.

Treatment

Alcoholism

Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a treatable condition characterized by uncontrolled consumption of alcohol which continues despite negative consequences. Treatment options for alcohol addiction include inpatient or outpatient alcohol rehab in Tennessee. Therapeutic methods include group and individual therapy, medication, and holistic therapies. Aftercare is often provided through 12-step support groups, which offer ongoing accountability and encouragement.

Drug Addiction

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

Dual Diagnosis

In Tennessee, dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs provide integrated care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Offered on an outpatient or inpatient basis, addiction experts utilize evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), together with recovery and skills groups, to address both disorders and promote mental health. You’ll also receive comprehensive aftercare planning and relapse prevention training.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse

In Tennessee, dual-diagnosis rehabs specialize in providing comprehensive care for individuals facing both mental health and substance abuse challenges. These inpatient or outpatient programs offer personalized treatment plans that integrate evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and experiential therapies, with skills training, to improve your mental health and give you the tools to sustain recovery.

Opioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Level of Care

Outpatient

Outpatient rehabs enable clients to receive care without leaving their home, workplace, and community. Clients typically receive intensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Many programs promote clients’ long-term sobriety through recovery-focused life skills training and ancillary services, such as peer coaching. Medication assisted treatment (MAT), including medication induction and maintenance, are common in outpatient care. Most facilities offer multiple levels of care to accommodate clients’ evolving needs, including intensive outpatient (IOP) and standard outpatient programming.

Intervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

Aftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Clinical Services

Couples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Therapy services are an integral part of the integrated services provided by the Center's outpatient clinics. Clients are identified for therapy services after a psychosocial assessment is conducted at an intake appointment or at any other time during their treatment process. Therapy clients demonstrate a need to work out their life problems in a one-on-one relationship with a helping professional. Each therapy session is tailored to the needs of each client.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
