About this Facility

Situated in Prescott Valley, Arizona, Polara Health Crisis Stabilization Unit is a drug and alcohol treatment center for adults with substance use and mental health disorders. They also provide valuable community resources, including referrals, psychiatric care, and family support services.

Addiction-related services at Polara Health Crisis Stabilization Unit include mental health assessments, counseling, dual-diagnosis residential treatment as part of crisis services, outpatient programs, and peer support services.

Mental Health Assessment and Counseling Assessments help to evaluate mental health status and to create an individualized treatment plan. Treatment activities may include individual, group, and family counseling.

Dual Diagnosis Addiction & Mental Health Treatment Polara Health offers dual-diagnosis treatment using evidence-based practices to treat addiction and mental health diagnoses. The crisis stabilization unit is for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis in relation to their mental health, and/or substance use. Typically, those who need crisis stabilization are admitted to the unit on an involuntary basis after being assessed by mental health clinicians. Once admitted, residents receive a comprehensive mental health assessment and individualized plan of care. This may involve medication management, evidence-based treatments, individual and group therapy, and peer support.

Medication Management Psychiatrists conduct assessments with patients to determine if a medication may be supportive in the rehabilitation process. The patient will meet with the psychiatrist several times for an assessment, diagnosis, medication and treatment plan, and at several intervals to determine progress and adjust medication as deemed necessary.

Peer Support Program The peer support program is offered by individuals with lived experience of addiction and recovery. Certified by the state, peers can support individuals to make a recovery plan, access services, and assist them in achieving their goals.

Treatment

Alcoholism

Alcohol use disorder (AUD), also referred to as alcoholism and alcohol addiction, is a chronic condition that involves craving alcohol and an inability to control drinking. A person with AUD must drink greater and greater amounts of alcohol to achieve the same effects and experiences withdrawal symptoms if they stop drinking alcohol. Several evidence-based methods are available to treat AUD through alcohol rehab in Arizona. This treatment can occur on an outpatient or inpatient basis.

Drug Addiction

Drug rehab in Arizona is the process of treating individuals who are dependent on a particular addictive drug. Because addiction is complex, this treatment typically includes a variety of interventions that address the many physical and emotional issues involved.

Opioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance Abuse

Arizona’s substance abuse treatment centers can provide tailored treatment for individuals with substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Treatment programs may include medically assisted detox, 12-Step recovery, intensive outpatient programs, and aftercare support. Addiction experts employ evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and talk therapy to uncover and reframe unhelpful patterns. By graduation, you’ll have developed new coping strategies, learned new stress management techniques, and have the capability of sustaining your recovery.

Level of Care

Outpatient

Many clients who enroll in an outpatient rehab program are exiting intensive inpatient care and no longer require such high-level clinical supervision. Outpatient programs typically follow a step-down structure, with treatment frequency and intensity decreasing as clients progress in their recovery journey. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) levels of care are the most time-intensive and are designed primarily for clients who have just left inpatient treatment or who are at an elevated risk of relapse.

Intensive Outpatient

Intensive inpatient programs (IOP) offer high-level support for clients in early recovery, those exiting detox or inpatient rehabs, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically includes rigorous individual, group, and family counseling. Evidence-based complementary therapies, such as acupuncture and massage, are widely available. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) may be provided. Clients in IOP receive a minimum of nine hours of treatment per week but may engage in up to 20 treatment hours weekly.

Inpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Clinical Services

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
