Addiction and behavioral health services provided by Commonwealth Place Inpatient Rehabilitation Program include therapy and counseling, medication assisted detox, and inpatient drug, alcohol, and substance abuse treatment.
Inpatient programs have clients live at Commonwealth Place Inpatient’s residence. During their stay, they will be provided with living accommodations that grant them privacy away from the stressors of everyday life so they can focus on their recovery. Clients are closely supervised and follow a scheduled treatment plan during their stay.
Research has shown a link between addiction disorders and mental health problems. Commonwealth Place Inpatient addresses this connection by providing several forms of therapy alongside clinical addiction treatment, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), rational behavior therapy (RBT), and individual, group, and family therapy.
A cornerstone of effective substance abuse therapy is medication management. Clinical professionals help clients select, store, and dose the medications they use to ensure they are getting the right treatment while educating them on their effects. Medication management also includes monitoring so that corrections can be made if necessary.
Upon completion of the residential program, clients work with staff on aftercare planning to take place as they transition into the outpatient program. Aftercare outlines plans to access support resources, secure work, find a place to live, and other measures to help clients maintain stability as they continue their recovery journey.
Aftercare has been proven to help clients leaving treatment maintain healthy lifestyles and avoid relapse. Commonwealth staff collaborate with clients to develop a plan that addresses all of their concerns as they begin their post treatment journey.
Commonwealth Place keeps its programs accessible by utilizing an all inclusive daily rate for costs. They accept Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance.

It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.
Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.
Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called “rational self-counseling,” the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.
Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.
