Addiction-related services offered at Chapter House include mental health assessment and counseling, peer support, recovery meetings, and a short and long-term sober living environment.

Mental Health Assessment & Counseling These assessments help establish that the resident has achieved sobriety. Results also guide the support and counseling provided to help residents maintain their recovery. Participants may attend ongoing counseling and group therapy.

Short & Long-Term Sober Living Chapter House offers sober living to men over 18 who have completed a recent addiction treatment program. Residents may stay in the program from 30 days to one year. Participants may also be required to undergo a random drug screening to ensure compliance with the house rules.

12-Step Recovery Support Meetings Residents have access to on-site recovery meetings, which may include 12-Step Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. These are peer-based group sessions where participants provide mutual support through sharing their experiences, volunteering, and supporting others in need.

Treatment

Alcoholism

Alcoholism occurs when a person becomes physically and psychologically dependent on alcohol. Attending a professional alcohol rehab in Texas can provide customized intervention methods to address the physical, mental, and relational challenges of addiction.

Drug Addiction

During rehab in Texas, you’ll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you’ll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Dual Diagnosis

Texas's specialized dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs prioritize comprehensive care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. These programs offer diverse levels of care, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Evidence-based therapies, trauma-informed care, group work, and educational workshops help treat both conditions at the same time and give you the tools to sustain mental health and sobriety.

Opioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance Abuse

There are several inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs providing substance abuse treatment in Texas. These programs usually provide a comprehensive assessment and individualized treatment plan, and include evidence-based treatments, like therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to reframe unhelpful coping strategies, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help with emotional regulation and stress. With these newfound skills you’ll dramatically increase your chances of long-term recovery and enhance your support network.

Level of Care

24-Hour Clinical Care

Most sober living environments have very little staff and are often limited to a live-in house manager. While this approach works well for many, they believe this leaves gaps in the supervision of residents who are in a vulnerable transition. Chapter House provides 24-hour awake staff. A staff member is always on property to ensure supervision, safety, cleanliness, program compliance, and leadership.

Intensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs offer high-level care for clients as an increased risk of relapse, including those in early recovery, those with a strong history of relapse, and those experiencing a crisis. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in nine to 20 hours of care weekly, with treatment modalities that combine psychotherapy and recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and animal therapy. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also common in alcohol and/or opioid recovery.

Outpatient

Clients are typically admitted to outpatient rehab once they have completed intensive inpatient care. Some clients who are exiting inpatient detox may also choose to transition directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education. Those in opioid and/or alcohol recovery may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Inpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

12-Step

12 step programs promote participants’ sustained sobriety through rigorous and ongoing peer coaching and personal spiritual growth. Participants routinely attend 12 step meetings, which are available multiple times per day, 365 days per year in most communities. This ensures that those in recovery have prompt access to the structure and support they need when they need it. These programs use spiritual precepts to address the root causes of addiction and encourage compassion, self-awareness, forgiveness, accountability, and acceptance.

Aftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Sober Living Homes

A sober living home in Texas can provide mutual support for those in recovery. Residents live in the halfway house with others who have agreed to abstain from substances and practice sober-living skills. The relationships and accountability formed here can help individuals strengthen their mental health and achieve long-term recovery. Residents share common spaces such as kitchens and back yards, share meals together, and share household responsibilities such as cooking and cleaning.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

When applicable, the families of their residents will be afforded the opportunity to be involved at every level of the Chapter House program. Their staff is passionate about mentoring family members and giving them individual support through the recovery of their loved ones. A family workshop will be facilitated once a month for all past and current families to join together for a staff led presentation, family discussion and fellowship among families at various stages of the recovery experience.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

The Chapter House life development curriculum focuses on relationships, goal setting, cooking, cleaning, organization, professional skills, hygiene and budgeting. Each resident will be required to go through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace curriculum for young adults. They believe the curriculum is invaluable in its teaching of living debt free, learning to be disciplined with money, save, give, and ultimately to have financial freedom.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Chapter House has a strong belief in the importance of balancing emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being. Through an onsite partnership with the nutrition department of The Cooper Clinic of Dallas, the residents will learn to plan meals, cook balanced meals, utilize healthy shopping skills, and stay within their budgets.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
