About this Facility

Buffalo Valley, Inc. provides alcohol and substance abuse treatment, including Levels I-IV residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and medically supervised detox in Castalian Springs, Tennessee. They also provide emergency shelter, transitional housing, and affordable permanent housing to those in our service area.

Buffalo Valley provides medically assisted detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatments. Their services include evidence-based therapies and special groups and classes that address addiction and recovery topics.

Medical detoxification services at Buffalo Valley are designed to monitor and support a safe withdrawal process from alcohol or drugs. Admission may occur 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the detoxification period may last up to 5 days. At the end of the detox, the option to continue into treatment is provided.

Residential treatment is a 24/7, highly structured housing environment that aids in treating alcohol and drug dependency. Upon admission, a counselor will discuss the goals of treatment and assess the appropriate treatment plan. Individual and group counseling is required to participate. Anxiety, depression, and other co-occurring disorders are worked through in order to alleviate mental health concerns contributing to the addiction.

In this program, individuals commute to their treatment center up to 7 days per week in order to receive treatment. All of Buffalo Valley’s sites are licensed for partial hospitalization and can provide an in between for those who do not need residential treatment but who need more support than intensive outpatient.

A step down from partial hospitalization is the intensive outpatient program. At Buffalo Valley, the intensive outpatient program offers morning or evening session options. This program is also a good option for those who cannot afford, or who do not need, the 24/7 care that comes with residential treatment. Normally there are three sessions per week, but more can be scheduled if needed.

Level of Care

Outpatient

Intensive outpatient treatment generally involves between nine and 20 therapeutic hours weekly, with the frequency and duration of sessions decreasing as clients stabilize. Inpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Partial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Medically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

12-Step

Persons in addiction recovery based on 12 step program models cultivate recovery-focused life skills emphasizing spiritual, mental, and emotional healing. Participants receive intensive peer support in 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, open to the public, and available day and night in most communities. Self-selected sponsors guide sponsees through the recovery journey, cultivating self-awareness, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability. Though these programs are rooted in spiritual principles, participants aren’t required to be religiously affiliated.
