About this Facility

Baldpate Hospital is located 30 miles north of Boston in Georgetown, Massachusetts. They provide medically assisted detox from substances including alcohol, heroin, cocaine, stimulants, benzodiazepines, and other prescribed or illegal drugs.

Baldpate Hospital offers detoxification services.

The detox program at Baldpate Hospital is a medically assisted detox program that is overseen by doctors, nurses, and clinical staff who are trained in addiction detox. Each person is monitored to provide a safe and effective process that is as comfortable as possible. FDA approved medications are used to support the detox and to help reduce the withdrawal symptoms. Each person’s unique case will be considered so that a tailored detox protocol can be implemented.

Inpatient treatment at Baldpate Hospital is for those who need mental and physical stabilization through the use of detoxification as the primary precursor to all other treatments. Once stabilization has been achieved, counseling, educational classes, and behavioral approaches to treatment may be an important follow up to continue treating the addiction.

Dual Diagnosis, often referred to as having co-occurring disorders, is when two or more mental health concerns present themselves simultaneously. It is very common for those who struggle with addiction to also have an underlying mental health concern such as anxiety, depression, or a diagnosable psychiatric disorder. Without proper treatment of the mental health issue at hand, getting and staying sober can be difficult. By treating both the substance use disorder and the mental health needs concurrently, a greater chance for long-term sobriety is achieved.

Aftercare programming is for individuals who have successfully gone through a treatment program but who desire or need continual support once they return home. These programs often include alumni groups, group therapy, 12 Step meetings, SMART meetings, and individual therapy. The purpose is to provide a safe space to continuously work on recovery.

Treatment

Substance Abuse

In Massachusetts, substance abuse treatment programs can help to address addiction and, if relevant, any co-occurring mental health conditions. Programs include outpatient, inpatient, dual-diagnosis, and partial hospitalization. You’ll receive therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, or dialectical behavioral therapy, and sometimes complementary therapies like acupuncture and mindfulness-based therapy. By attending skills training and recovery groups you’ll build a strong foundation for your recovery and strengthen your support network, increasing your chances of long-term recovery success.

Level of Care

Inpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Clinical Services

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
