About this Facility

Ambrosia Treatment Center is a substance use disorder, mental health, and dual diagnosis treatment center in Philadelphia, PA, with several locations throughout Florida as well. They provide a holistic approach to addiction treatment that includes trauma care, family programming, and the mental and physical aspects of addiction treatment.

Ambrosia Treatment Center offers detox, inpatient, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and medication assisted treatment services.

Medically supervised detox at Ambrosia Treatment Center allows for medical supervision that can oversee the safety and efficiency of the detox process. Nurses and therapists will help adjust medications as needed to help create as much comfort as possible. The average length of stay is 3 – 10 days, depending on the severity of the addiction, underlying medical conditions, and the progress made through the detox process.

Inpatient treatment is the highest level of care for addiction treatment. Once detox is completed, this is usually the next step. There is 24 hour a day care and monitoring to ensure safety and structure. Meals and accommodations are taken care of to remove the burden of worrying about daily needs. During inpatient, mental health treatment begins. At Ambrosia Treatment Center, inpatient treatment involves individualized treatment plans, behavioral modification, learning new life skills, family involvement, and a focus on the treatment of the addiction and any co-occurring disorders.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment addresses the same issues as inpatient but is a step down. It does not provide 24/7 monitoring and allows participants to return home at night. Each week, nine hours of treatment is required for a duration of 3 – 12 months. At Ambrosia Treatment Center, inpatient treatment involves individualized treatment plans, behavioral modification, learning new life skills, family involvement, and a focus on the treatment of the addiction and any co-occurring disorders.

Outpatient treatment is a step down from intensive outpatient, allowing for less time spent at treatment each week. Hours spent in treatment each week is often based on what will be needed to continue making progress. At Ambrosia Treatment Center, inpatient treatment involves individualized treatment plans, behavioral modification, learning new life skills, family involvement, and a focus on the treatment of the addiction and any co-occurring disorders.

Medication Assisted Treatment Programs provide medications along with comprehensive medical, psychiatric, and behavioral counseling. FDA approved medications are used to support withdrawal from opioid drugs and to help maintain long term abstinence. By combining medication with mental health treatment, a greater chance of success is achieved for long term abstinence.

Treatment

Alcoholism

Alcoholism is a syndrome of dependent alcohol use. Also called alcohol use disorder (AUD), the symptoms include craving alcohol, not being able to stop drinking, and feeling anxious or irritable when not drinking. For many people, alcohol rehab in Pennsylvania is a beneficial treatment. Programs offer many levels of care, including medical and behavioral therapies.

Drug Addiction

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

Mental Health

If you have a mental health condition and an addiction, it is critical to address both conditions simultaneously. If you only address the mental health disorder, you’ll likely continue to use drugs or alcohol, which can make your mental health issues even worse. On the other hand, if you only address the addiction, you won’t have the tools to cope with your mental health disorder in a healthy way.

Opioid Addiction

Substance Abuse

In Pennsylvania, substance abuse treatment programs can help address addiction and any co-occurring mental health problems. These programs incorporate evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and psychoeducation to help you uncover the underlying causes for your substance use and develop new skills to help you manage stress and overcome future triggers which may challenge your sobriety.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
