Alano Club is a nonprofit organization in Santa Barbara, California that offers support group meetings for individuals dealing with substance abuse challenges. They follow the 12 Step model of recovery.

Clients can attend meetings as they please, where they can learn from and support one another through their lived experiences. Clients should note that these are not medical services.
The 12 Steps are a method of helping individuals understand and navigate sobriety and develop key life skills. Clients receive the support of others in recovery as they work through acceptance, personal responsibility, relapse prevention, self compassion, forgiveness, and spirituality to support long term recovery.
Alano Clubs do not accept members’ insurance or require payment to participate. However, clients may also be interested in professional treatment through other programs, which may be covered by major insurance plans like Humana, Beacon, BlueCross BlueShield, Anthem, and Aetna. Clients should always confirm their coverage before enrolling in such treatment plans, as out of network benefits may vary.

Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.
