About this Facility

Alano Club offers community-based addiction support for individuals in San Francisco, California. Services include outpatient treatment, peer support services, community support, volunteer opportunities, social events, and referrals.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous is a recovery program that supports individuals to overcome substance use disorders. Their core service is a 12-step program, which involves attending regular recovery meetings, working with a sponsor, and being of service, such as taking a volunteer position or helping a newcomer. Anyone can attend, the only requirement is a desire to stop using. Meetings are available throughout the day, seven days a week. Members also volunteer their time to run meetings.

Peer support programs are provided by individuals with lived experience of addiction and recovery. Each peer is state-certified to support individuals seeking recovery, by providing recovery planning help, support navigating services, and recovery support.

Alano Club is a free service and supports itself through member contributions and those who volunteer. There is no requirement to donate – it is entirely voluntary. Attending the Alano Club will not impact your out-of-network benefits.

Treatment

Alcoholism

Alcoholism, or alcohol use disorder (AUD), is defined by alcohol dependence. This is a state the body reaches when it experiences withdrawal symptoms in the absence of alcohol. A person who has AUD craves alcohol and continues to drink despite adverse consequences. Because withdrawing from alcohol can pose health risks, individuals with AUD should seek professional alcohol rehab in California to overcome their alcohol addiction. This process typically involves medical detox, rehabilitation, and maintenance.

Drug Addiction

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Opioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance Abuse

In California, substance abuse treatment programs can help individuals with any type of substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions. These rehab programs typically encompass various levels of care, including medically assisted detox, intensive outpatient, outpatient, residential rehab, and partial hospitalization. You can expect clinicians to utilize evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness to help you achieve and sustain your recovery. The rehab’s clinical team can provide a comprehensive assessment to determine the appropriate level of care and medical support you may need.

Clinical Services

Family Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
