Alano Club is a substance abuse support group in Costa Mesa, California. The Alano Club organization exists to support individuals with substance use disorders through peer-led support groups. They serve teens and adults.
Alano Club allows clients to receive support and help support others impacted by addiction. However, it should be noted that this isn’t a treatment plan, isn’t overseen by medical staff, and doesn’t provide medical care.
The 12 Steps are a fundamental part of the Alano Club and similar support groups. In these peer-led meetings, clients follow a series of 12 steps designed to guide them through taking responsibility for their actions and learning to support others. There is no timetable for completing these steps, though they are completed in a set order.
The steps begin with a client admitting that they are powerless over their addiction and that they need help from (and are putting their faith in) a self-identified higher power, which can be the group itself. Throughout the remaining steps, clients take accountability for their actions, make amends with those most hurt by their actions, and eventually act as mentors to newcomers to the group. Upon completing the 12 Steps, clients are encouraged to remain in the group to continue giving and receiving support.
Alano Club doesn’t require insurance to attend, but clients considering other treatment programs should always confirm coverage before enrolling in a treatment program, as in network and out of network benefits can vary.

Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.
