About this Facility

Advance DUI School offers substance abuse counseling and education services in Reno, Nevada. Their programs are accessible to the public and through court orders. They specialize in utilizing non judgemental motivational interviewing (MI) techniques. Advance DUI School's services are divided between structured classes and traditional counseling. These services are available to adult clients 18 years and older. Classes meet state standards and are held over two four hour sessions. Other services offered include:

IOP is a more intensive form of traditional outpatient treatment. Clients visit the facility to participate in treatment for longer sessions, more frequent sessions, or both. IOP can be used as a transitional step from a higher level of treatment or on its own.

CBT is a form of psychology that addresses chronic problems (such as drug and alcohol abuse) by addressing the negative thoughts and patterns that worsen them. CBT seeks to identify these issues and teach clients healthy coping skills to replace them. Studies of CBT techniques show it to be effective in treating substance abuse.

MI is a form of counseling that helps clients who feel overwhelmed or helpless find the internal motivation to change their lives. It’s often used in conjunction with other forms of therapy, such as CBT, to make clients more open to making life changes.

Treatment

Mental Health

Addiction and mental health disorders are often present at the same time, a condition that is known as dual diagnosis. The reasoning behind that is twofold. Firstly, using drugs and alcohol is a way to self-medicate many of the most stressful aspects of mental health. On the other hand, having an addiction vastly increases your chances of developing a mental health disorder.

Substance Abuse

Specialized substance abuse treatment in Nevada can support individuals who need help for substance abuse. Care levels include outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization programs. By incorporating evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), counseling, clinicians can help you to get to the root cause of your addiction and equip you with the tools to maintain your recovery.

Level of Care

Outpatient

Outpatient rehabs provide addiction treatment aligned with clients’ unique schedule and evolving needs. Many programs offer evening, night, morning, and weekend services to accommodate clients who are working professionals or full-time caregivers. They also provide a full continuum of care, including psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and, for clients in alcohol and/or opioid recovery, medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Clinical Services

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
