Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)--JAFI provides 12 step-focused addiction recovery services for adults in Birmingham, Alabama, including gender-specific and specialized programming for adolescents, young adults, seniors, military personnel and veterans, LGBTQ+ persons, and families. JAFI offers a peaceful, private, clubhouse setting for group therapy meetings and recovery education programs.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)–JAFI is a no-cost, community-based treatment program. Meetings are conducted 365 days per year, including weekend, evening, night, and holiday sessions. Group therapy sessions are anonymous and open to the public.

The 12 step model uses a stage of change approach that emphasizes clients’ holistic healing, including physical, psychological, emotional, social, and spiritual recovery. The program includes peer coaching and one-on-one support via self-selected sponsors. Recovery-focused life skills training may address topics such as coping, self-care, anger and stress management, trauma resolution, accountability, and relapse prevention.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)–JAFI offers addiction counseling and education at no cost to clients. Referrals for ancillary services are available, including additional medical and mental health care. Many medical and mental health providers work with major insurers, such as Aetna, Cigna, BlueCross BlueShield, Humana, and United Healthcare to offset treatment costs. Out of network benefits vary.
