About this Facility

The Chicago, Illinois chapter of AA – Alcoholicos Anonimos En Espanol is a drug and alcohol treatment program for adults with substance use disorder. They also provide valuable community resources, such as referrals, volunteer opportunities, outreach and prevention services.

The services at AA – Alcoholicos Anonimos En Espanol include lay person counseling (called sponsorship), outpatient recovery meetings, and peer support services.

12 Step Peer Support Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a 12-step program of recovery that helps adults overcome alcohol use disorder and substance use disorders. The recovery program involves attending regular recovery meetings, working through the 12-step program with a sponsor, and being of service to others in need – this can be helping out at a meeting, sponsoring others, or answering the AA helpline. Anyone can attend AA and you do not need to be sober. The only requirement is a desire to stop drinking. Meetings are available throughout the day, seven days a week.

Peer support program The peer support program is offered by individuals with lived experience of addiction and recovery. To become a peer, these individuals must have been through an educational program and be certified by the state. Peers services include supporting individuals to create a recovery plan with specific recovery-related goals, navigate services, and attend meetings together.

Treatment

Alcoholism

Alcohol use disorder (alcoholism) can be severe, moderate, or mild. Symptoms include spending a lot of time drinking, wanting to stop but being unsuccessful, and feeling strong cravings that lead to overuse of alcohol. At any severity level, alcohol addiction is treatable through alcohol rehab in Illinois. Most comprehensive rehab programs include medical detox, inpatient rehab, and ongoing alcohol counseling/support (maintenance).

Drug Addiction

Drug rehab in Illinois is designed to help people recover from addiction to a number of substances. The length of each program and its intensity tend to vary, and the plan of care is based on your individual needs.

Substance Abuse

In Illinois, comprehensive substance abuse treatment programs are available for individuals struggling with substances and their mental health. These programs offer various levels of care, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Skilled clinicians utilize evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care to address substance abuse and improve your mental health. You’ll also learn strategies to cope with relapse triggers and deal with stress.

Level of Care

12-Step

Participants in 12 step programs focus on emotional, psychological, and spiritual growth as the foundation for long-term sobriety. They engage in regular 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, and accessible day and night, year-round, in most communities. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring from a self-selected sponsor. Though the 12 steps of recovery are based on spiritual principles, religious affiliation isn’t required. Specialized formats are available, including programs for seniors, teens, and families.
